Smoky Mountains – Vacation

Whew!  Just got home from our week of camping in Pigeon Forge, TN. And I miss the mountains already.

We made the long trek to our campground, Bear Cove Village, in Pigeon Forge.  After settling into our campsite and having dinner, we went out for frozen yogurt for dessert.

It rained in the night and it looked like it would rain all day. We had originally planned to go to Dollywood Splash Park.  But we were afraid of the weather.  So we headed to Gatlinburg.

Mike sampled some moonshine.

We rode the Gatlinburg Sky Lift and enjoyed the view.

We ate lunch at Howard’s Steakhouse and had a great day shopping in town.

Dollywood!  Nathan’s favorite ride was the Thunderhead wood roller coaster.  Andrew’s favorite ride was the Tennessee Tornado (upside roller coaster).  Mike’s loved the Thunderhead and Tennessee Tornardo.  I liked the water rides and touring Dolly’s bus.  🙂

The boys rode go-karts.

We went to Smoky Mountain Knifeworks…because don’t all boys love knives.

We went to the Apple Barn and sampled some Apple Cider.  Yum!

Mike and I went to Old Mill Restauraunt for dinner…which was my favorite meal of the week.  The meal included corn chowder, fritters, salad, main course, and dessert!

We went white water rafting!  Oh so so so fun!!!!  Aren’t these photos fun?

On the drive back to the trailer, we stopped at one of the scenic overlooks along the Foothills Parkway.  Wow!  What beautiful views!

We checked out Ober in Gatlinburg.  We rode the sky lift and the cool slide down.  And of course, we enjoyed the beautiful mountain views.

We got up early and drove to Cade’s Cove.  It’s an 11 mile loop in the Smoky Mountain National Park where tourists often seen bears, deer, and other wild animals along the road.  All we saw were wild turkeys and one deer.  But we still enjoyed the scenery, a short hike, the mill, and spending time together.

After dinner in the trailer, we went back to Apple Farm and had the best ice cream!  And yep, more apple cider!

We packed up and drove home.  Boo Hoo!
