Need to step up my photography this year

Back when the boys were little, I took tons and tons of photos of the boys.  I was really able to get some great photos with beautiful bokeh and all.  Now that the boys are older and dread the camera time, my time is limited.

Here are photos I took Christmas Day.  I love them because of who is in them (my mom, boys, dog, and husband), but they could have been so much better.

So watch out family.  I am getting out the camera more often this year and you will sit still longer as I try and step up my photography this year.

If you have any recommendations for online photo course (not millions of dollars though), please let me know.

Photos taken using my old Nikon D80.

Paper Issues

I have found a fun new Facebook group and blog to visit and be inspired…Paper Issues

Sketchy Saturday Link Party

My favorite part of their blog is the Sketchy Saturday Link Party.  I love scrapbook sketches although my layout never ends up looking exactly like the sketch, the sketch still inspires me.  Link to current Sketchy Saturday Link Party.

Here are 2 of my recent layouts totally inspired by one of their sketches:

Current Link Party

They also have a fun little Current Link Party.  Their team posts inspiration and you post your creations based off theme.  Link to current Current Link Party which is ‘Pop-ping the Cork with Elle’s Studio’

Last week, I upload my December 25th layout and was a Fan Feature.  How cool is that!  Thanks Paper Issues for selecting to feature my layout.

So stop by and enjoy some inspiration.  If you would like to be added to their Facebook page, let me know.

Happy New Year 2015

Happy New Year!

“A new year is the first blank page of a 365 page book. Write a good one.” —Brad Paisley

And I have decided to start anew.  And yep, 2015 is going to be a good one.

So here I am starting up my blog again.

First, let’s play a little catch up…

I still have the same job but I now work from home.  I LOVE LOVE LOVE working from home.  I get to see more of the boys, cook healthier meals, scrap a little during lunch (I am still designing for, and even watch a little Netflix now and then.  Here is a recent layout I created celebrating this…

Mike and I celebrated our 20th wedding anniversary last year.  We celebrated by taking a cruise, just the two of us, to Haiti, Jamaica, and Cozumel.  What a great trip.  We took tons tons of photos.  And I have only just begun scrapbooking those pics.  Here is one of two layout I have completed so far.

Nathan is in 10th grade and is now driving with a permit and will be 16 years old next month.  Wow.  How did that happen?

Andrew is 12 going on 18.  He wishes he were driving and oh my gosh he is obsessed with cars.  Until then, he travels via his skateboard.

My sweet dog Dino is still as cute as always!  He loves me so much!  And the feeling is mutual.

I am very blessed and thankful for my wonderful life.  I hope you will visit my blog again as I continue to share more of it.

Note:  Special shout out to my friend Audrey (link to her blog is on the right) for the first line of this blog post inspiration.  I totally stole it!  Be sure to visit her blog and give her a big ole congrats for being asked to join the Simple Stories 2015 design team!

Dinner Menu Week of March 18, 2013

I like having this documentary of our family weekly dinner menus.  So here is what we are eating this week.

  • Grilled Salmon (new recipe) ————- Loved!  Will make again.  Can’t find the link to the recipe.
  • Broccoli Bites (new recipe) ————— Very good.  May make again.

Tuesday:  Chicken Parmesan Casserole (new recipe) ——- Loved!  Will make again.

Wednesday:  Leftovers

Thursday:  Grilled Shrimp

With some planning and late night preparation, we have time to make all these meals. For example, Sunday night, I prepared the Broccoli Bite mixture.  All we had to do Monday was scoop and bake.
